About Camso

A brief history of the Camso brand - who they are and where they are from.

  • The mini excavator track division was originally set up in the 1990's , in Europe, under the name Soldieal.
  • Factories were then set up in Sri Lanka where the firm had bought their own, natural rubber plantations. Natural rubber has better wear properties than synthetic rubber and is a key component.
  • 2010 Solideal was bought by Canadian firm Camoplast, who were world leaders in tracks  for agricultural tractors and harvesters, ATVs and snowmobiles.
  • 2015 the group re-branded as Camso.
  • 2018 the firm was acquired by Michelin Group for $1.45b US.
  • 2024 CEAT agree deal to acquire the Camso brand off-road (OTR) tyre and track assets from Michelin.

CEAT itself was founded in Italy. It was purchased by Mumbai-based conglomerate RPG Enterprises in 1982. CEAT will now have global ownership of the Camso brand and two manufacturing facilities.

Unique features:

  • 3S Iron Core, reduces vibrations and also the risk of de-tracking. This reduces fatigue for the operator and wear and tear on the excavator itself. It helps stop harmful sprocket damage to tracks which can result from the machine skipping off tracks on cross-gradients or when steering.
  • Hauler lug tread design; the stepped tread lugs help to give a natural mud-shedding effect, keeping grip maximised. Extremely useful on wet, muddy British sites and also on cross gradients. 
  • Curbshield gives edge protection to tracks from kerbing and helps extend working life. A must for utility work.
  • High tension Steel Core Wires; pre-tensioned cables, with even alignment across the track carcass eliminates weak spots. Both individual wires and the twisted cables are coated to help resist rust, should the outer casing suffer a cut or puncture.
